MBA without work experience @ London Metropolitan University, UK


New MBA Programme at London Metropolitan University.
The New MBA course at LMU has two intakes a year, September and February, and lasts 18 months. The course includes a six month internship, after which students will complete their strategic management project. The course is designed for recent graduates of business, engineering, commerce, accounting, economics, marketing or finance, or any other good graduates who have two years of relevant work experience.  The school is keen in assessing students, to see evidence of excellent English, enthusiasm, extra-curricular achievements and interests, and the kind of drive and passion that makes for inspiring future managers.

The course consists of four main stages:

Stage 1

  • Corporate Business Environment
  • Accounting and Finance
  • Operations Management or HRM
  • Skills for successful management
  • Leadership and personal development

This stage also features guest speakers as part of our Global Business Leader programme.


Stage 2

  • International Business Strategy
  • Marketing
  • Elective from: International Marketing, Corporate Finance, HRM, Change
  • Management, Mergers and Acquisitions, International Business of Japan,
  • South and East Asia, Supplier Relationship Management.
  • Skills for successful management
  • Leadership and personal development

Throughout stages one and two, there are also a series of cultural and team building events, plus networking sessions with alumni.

Stage 3

  • Global Business and Analysis
  • Research methods

Stage 4

  • Assessed internship
  • Business simulation and project management
  • Dissertation tutorials
  • Work-based learning and development

The MBA course director, Dr Humphrey Shaw, has taught on the LMU MBA for 15 years and has written many books on corporate finance. MBA programme is taught in an especially designed postgraduate teaching suite at Moorgate building, which is located almost next to the Bank of England, at the heart of the City of London. Upon completion of the MBA course, Business Relations Office and Placement/Careers Department work with students to help them to find jobs, not only in the UK,  but globally.
